Abel Tasman National Park and drive down the West Coast

Ok, now we're talkin. This park is gorgeous and the beaches are fabulous. We began in Motueka and took a water taxi up to Tonga Bay. The beaches are fine white sand and the waters are the most amazing aquamarine. From Tonga Bay we hiked down to Bark Bay which was about an hour and a half and then continued on another 2 hours to Torrent Bay. Once there, we were hoping for a swim only the wind had picked up which made it a bit chilly. The tides on this coast are crazy. When we began in the morning, it was high tide. Only a few hours later, by the time we got to Torrent Bay, the tide had pulled out so far. The water taxis can't pull in as far so you have to walk out a ways to reach them. Once back to the shuttle we headed back to the hostel, picked up our bags and made our way back to Nelson. At this stage it had been a very long day and I was exhausted. We stayed at a hostel called the Paradiso. It was more like a bad college frat party. Although, has there ever been a good college frat party?

I was up this morning at 6 to catch the only bus heading to Greymouth. Hayden and I parted ways this morning and I'm bummed not to have him continue to be my travel buddy. We had a really great time. Thanks a bunch Hayden. Now, I'm sitting in Greymouth catching up on things and soon heading to a Brewery tour.
Here are some pics at Abel Tasman and the Westcoast trip down. http://picasaweb.google.com/candimichael/BeachesOfAbelTasman#

The bungee jump was awesome, talk about panties in a bunch-wow. Your pictures are beautiful, and I hope you don't mind sharing them with all of us. I seem to be as bad as your Mom I look forward to following your day by day on our world map. Do be careful, have a glorious time, and thank you once again.
